Thanks to your phone calls, emails, and lobbying against HB 100, the bill did not move forward this session! This bill would have required the Clerk of Court to maintain public records of any person who asks to be removed from a jury for reason of not being a US citizen. The bill would have also prohibited law enforcement agencies from using local and community IDs, such as the Faith Action ID card, to verify a person’s identity or residency. In addition, it would have created a costly and unworkable process to punish cities, counties, and law enforcement agencies who violate poorly defined “state immigration laws,” potentially resulting in the loss of vital education and transportation funding. Thank you again for taking action in your community!
