PARE (Program of Assistance, Resources and Education) is an innovative program of El Pueblo, Inc. designed to provide information to Latina survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault about assistance, resources, and education. The goal is to empower Latinas so that they can take action and advocate for better services and policies that promote violence-free societies.
The mission of El Pueblo is that the Latinxs achieve a positive social change through awareness, training, and community action. To reach this objective, PARE created the 'Grupo de Fortalecimiento' (Strengthening Group) through which its members are educated and trained by experts in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault in the course of 12 sessions. Latina members of this group can continue their healing process, develop self-esteem and self-sufficiency, and promote healthy families and communities. Survivors and Latinas interested on this field can be powerful agents of change in our community. Through these empowerment groups, we hope to form leaders who will take charge of the movement and use their voices and personal experiences to improve the community-level response and service provision for Latina survivors of abuse.
The group meets once a week for 14 weeks. These workshop series is offered twice a year. If you would like to participate in any of these programs and/or would like more information, please contact Mónica at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PARE also establishes a connection with agencies such as NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and NC Coalition Against Sexual Assault, which offer specific trainings to our PARE staff in charge of providing information and referrals in Spanish on issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault.
