Our volunteer opportunities vary greatly from day to day, but we are never without potential volunteer jobs. We welcome you to think about your availability and what you hope to gain from your experience as we try to fit you into the right position.
Below are a few examples of volunteer jobs that are available. The amount of time you spend and the amount of work you do totally depends upon you and what you are willing to give. We welcome all volunteers regardless of age, race, sex, language, culture, and sexual orientation. We strive for a culturally diverse and culturally competent work environment.
The main function as a volunteer will be to carry out surveys with people that attend the Consulate in order to evaluate and assess their needs specifically regarding to Health. You will be working closely with the Ventanilla de Salud coordinator to serve the latino population that needs information about health. Your participation in this program will expand your knowledge about the Health Services in NC and SC.
Participate in the planning and implementation of La Fiesta del Pueblo- the state's largest Latin American festival- on one of seven Volunteer Committees and over thirty volunteer sub-committees. From parking passes to press releases- your job will be as creative and time/talent consuming as you wish. The benefits that come with the friendships you make are immeasurable.
A three-hour shift doing whatever it takes to host the 10,000 participants expected to attend the Fiesta. The jobs include everything from selling sodas, working at the admission booths, picking up trash, and much more. There will be a orientation sessions at the new festival site at the NC state fairgrounds in the month prior to the festival.
From folding newsletters to organizing the resource room shelf, we always need extra time and talents in the office. We will notify you if we have a specific job that needs some extra hands. If you would like to schedule a couple of hours a week to stop by and help with some short and long-term office projects, just let us know. If you have a specific talent that you could use to enhance our work, we would love to talk to you more about how you can help.
Work with our youth program to develop materials for the youth forums, copy the registration packets, organize scholarship materials, etc. Surround yourself with the future leaders of the state of North Carolina.
Don't limit yourself to the outdoor festivities of La Fiesta, join the crew to help all of our special events. We always need help with preparation (stuffing packets, making nametags), registration, clean-up patrol, monitoring food lines, etc. It's the nuts and bolts of every event that helps to make a safe and positive environment for all participants to get the most out of the experience.
