It is hard to believe that fifteen years have passed since the first Fiesta was held on September 1994, in Chapel Hill. Fiesta was born as an answer to the community calling for a space in which one could share information and Latino culture among the Latin American community and its supporters.
The festival has grown tremendously, with almost 40,000 participants and 600 volunteers in the following years, consistently improving the quality and visibility of La Fiesta del Pueblo with steadily increasing attendance as a result of strong, consistent
programming and ever-increasing partnerships with other organizations, media outlets and corporate partners from across the state.

Information and educational resources are shared by organizations that use “La Fiesta del Pueblo” as a way to kick-off initiatives and/or unveil new programs to North Carolina communities. Voter registration has also become a staple of the event.
Foods from Central and South America as well as the Caribbean can be sampled at the Food Court, with cuisines as diverse as pupusas, paletas, churros, tortillas, tacos al carbon and empanadas. A lot of people come to Fiesta just to eat. When choosing vendors, El Pueblo looks for “comida casera” (homemade style food). Supporting small, often family-owned operations also fits in with El Pueblo’s mission. Vendors provide a taste of home for the diverse cultures under the term “Latino”.
We encourage you to participate as a vendor at La Fiesta del Pueblo, please give Margarita a call at: 919-835-1525 ext. 230, or via e-mail at: margarita@elpueblo.org
