Spencer is Civic Engagement Organizer at El Pueblo, working to engage community members and policy makers in advocacy for the Latinx community in North Carolina. A Raleigh native, Spencer has a background in North Carolina politics, and experience working on races for city council, state legislature, and U.S. Senate. Before joining El Pueblo, Spencer was part of the Dilley Pro Bono Project, a team that provides legal representation to mothers and children detained at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas. It was in his role as project manager and legal assistant that Spencer met dozens of families who would travel to North Carolina after being released from detention, to join loved ones in places like Asheville, Charlotte, Wilmington, and Whiteville. He is proud to be a part of El Pueblo’s advocacy for those families who seek safety in our state, and for the entire Latinx community in North Carolina. Spencer graduated from UNC Wilmington in 2017, and holds bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Political Science.
