PARE (Program of Assistance, Resources, and Education) is an innovative program of El Pueblo, designed to provide information to Latina survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, in areas including assistance, resources and education.  The goal is to empower Latinas so that they can take action and advocate for better services and policies that promote violence-free societies.

Through PARE’s Grupo de Fortalecimiento, or “Strengthening Group,” Latina community members are educated and trained by experts in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault in the course of 12 sessions. Members of this group can continue their healing process, develop self-esteem and self-sufficiency, and promote healthy families and communities.  Through these empowerment groups, we hope to form leaders who will take charge of the movement and use their voices and personal experiences to improve the community-level response and service provision for Latina survivors of abuse.

PARE also establishes a connection with agencies such as NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and NC Coalition Against Sexual Assault, which offer specific trainings to our PARE staff in charge of providing information and referrals in Spanish on issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault.

The group meets once a week for 14 weeks. These workshop series is offered twice a year. Learn more about the current program and how to register here.
