Youth
Programs
Youth are essential to our community and our work.
We believe this new generation, who we call la Generación Acción, is powerful and full of potential. Our youth programs work to foster their power through civic education, leadership development training, and active participation in local, state, and national government.
Generación Acción
Currently, we have two youth programs which focus on college-aged people. However, all youth can participate through volunteering, canvassing, and lobby days at the legislature.
Additionally, youth are able to contact us for independent internship opportunities, where interns will individually work with staff for a semester. We also engage youth in workshops at their schools, our community events, and encourage their involvement in the civic process.
Semillas
The Semillas Internship begins in the fall and continues throughout the academic year. Semillas is for those who may be new to social justice and organizing spaces and want to learn how to organize and get involved. They meet regularly to learn about social justice movements through civic and advocacy training sessions, support different components of El Pueblo’s advocacy efforts, and attend our legislative visits. Semillas Interns also have opportunities to work in our different teams to learn about civic engagement, community organizing, fundraising and development, communications, and community investment.
Raices
The Raices Summer Internship is for those who already have a social justice knowledge base and are ready to dig deep roots as they continue to reach their branches high. Raices Interns gain practical experience by working with staff in the fields of advocacy & organizing, fundraising, communications, and community investment. Additionally, they build on their advocacy skills through weekly workshops and an internship long project.
